OneSelf Terms of Service

Page address: humanitybots.com/oneself/terms

Effective date: 9 October 2026. Last updated: 9 October 2026.

Please read these terms. They include a medical, legal and financial disclaimer (section 3), rules for Cleo, our AI companion (section 4), the Community Guidelines (section 7), and an agreement to resolve disputes by individual arbitration rather than in court, which you may opt out of within 30 days (section 13).

1. Who we are and what you are agreeing to

OneSelf is operated by HumanityBots, Inc., a Texas corporation at 5900 Balcones Drive #32932, Austin, TX 78731 ("HumanityBots", "we", "us"). These Terms are a contract between you and HumanityBots that governs your use of the OneSelf app, the OneSelf pages on humanitybots.com and related services ("OneSelf"). By creating an account, or by tapping "I agree" where these Terms are presented, you accept them and our Privacy Policy (humanitybots.com/oneself/privacy), which explains how we handle your information. If you do not agree, do not use OneSelf.

These documents also form part of our agreement: the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy (humanitybots.com/oneself/health-data) and the Cleo Safety and Crisis Protocol (humanitybots.com/oneself/cleo-safety).

2. Who may use OneSelf

You must be at least 18 years old and live in the United States. You may use OneSelf only for yourself, as a person who cares for or supports someone else. Each account is for one person; do not share your login. You are responsible for keeping your password and devices secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us at hello@humanitybots.com right away if you think someone else has used it.

3. OneSelf is not medical, legal or financial advice

OneSelf gives you information, organisation and support. It does not give medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, therapist, lawyer, financial adviser, benefits counsellor, social worker or any other professional. Nothing in OneSelf, including anything Cleo says, creates a provider-patient or other professional relationship. OneSelf is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

Information in OneSelf about benefits, government programmes, eligibility rules, required documents or portals is general information. Rules change and differ by state and by person. Always confirm with the programme itself or a qualified adviser before you apply or make a decision.

Always check with a qualified professional before making decisions about medications, treatment, legal arrangements, money or care, and check any summary OneSelf produces against the original document.

In an emergency, do not use OneSelf. If you or the person you care for is in immediate danger, call 911. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or chat at 988lifeline.org.

4. Cleo, our AI companion

Cleo is an artificial intelligence feature powered by Google's Gemini models. Cleo is not a person, not a licensed professional of any kind, and not a therapy, counselling or treatment service. Cleo is designed to help you organise, remember and think things through, and to point you to resources.

  • Cleo can be wrong. Its replies are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Do not rely on Cleo for anything that matters without checking it.
  • Cleo will not give dosage, diagnosis or treatment instructions, or financial or legal advice, and will point you to a professional if you ask. If Cleo ever appears to do so, that is an error; please report the response in the app.
  • Cleo tells you it is an AI at the start of each conversation and reminds you from time to time. Cleo will never claim to be human or to hold a professional title.
  • If your words suggest you may be in crisis, Cleo will stop and show you crisis resources, as described in the Cleo Safety and Crisis Protocol.
  • OneSelf is for adults. Cleo may not be suitable for minors.
  • We limit each account to 50 Cleo messages a day to keep the service safe and available for everyone.
  • Everything you tell Cleo is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Please do not share other people's information with Cleo beyond what you need for your caregiving.
  • You may not use Cleo or any part of OneSelf to train, test or build an AI model, to extract our prompts or configuration, or to create content that breaks section 7.

5. Information about the person you care for

OneSelf is built for you to record information about someone else. When you do, you confirm that you are that person's family member or caregiver and that you have the permission or legal authority needed to record and store that information. You agree not to record information about anyone you do not care for, and to respect the wishes of the person you care for about what is recorded. If they or their legal representative ask us to delete information about them, we will follow the process in the Privacy Policy, which may involve you.

Voice notes: record only yourself, or people who know they are being recorded. Some states require everyone's consent to be recorded. You are responsible for obtaining any consent the law requires.

6. Your content

You own what you put into OneSelf: your notes, recordings, documents, posts and comments ("your content"). You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process, display and transmit your content solely to provide OneSelf to you and, for community posts, to other members, and to keep OneSelf safe. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups for up to 30 days and anything we must keep by law.

You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the right to share it and that it does not break anyone's rights or the law.

7. Community Guidelines

The Community is a place for caregivers to support one another. By posting, you accept these guidelines.

Be kind, be honest, be careful with other people's details.

Do not post:

  • Anything that harasses, threatens, demeans or bullies anyone, or that is hateful on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age or similar.
  • Full names, addresses, phone numbers, medical record numbers, photos or other identifying details of the person you care for or anyone else, without their permission.
  • Medical advice stated as fact, including dosages, or anything that could put someone's health at risk if followed. Share your experience; let others check with their professionals.
  • Content that promotes or describes self-harm, suicide, abuse or violence in a way that could encourage it. If you are struggling, Cleo and the resources in section 3 are there for you, and you can always post to ask for support.
  • Sexual content, spam, advertising, fundraising, multi-level marketing, or links to buy anything.
  • Anything illegal, infringing, false and harmful, or impersonating someone else.
  • Anything that scrapes, copies or republishes other members' posts outside OneSelf.

Posts are visible to other signed-in members. Anonymous posts hide your name from other members, but they are not confidential, and we can still see who posted if we need to enforce these rules.

How we moderate. You can report any post, comment or member from inside the app, and block any member so you no longer see their content. We review reports and may remove content, warn, suspend or permanently ban accounts, at our discretion and without prior notice, when we believe these guidelines or these Terms have been broken. We aim to act on reports within two business days. We do not pre-screen posts and we are not responsible for what members post, but we will act when we learn of a problem. If a post suggests that a member may be in danger, we may reach out to them with crisis resources.

Copyright. If you believe content on OneSelf infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to our designated agent: HumanityBots, Inc., DMCA Agent, 5900 Balcones Drive #32932, Austin, TX 78731, hello@humanitybots.com. Include the work, where the infringing material is, your contact details, a statement of good-faith belief, a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you are authorised, and your signature. We remove infringing content, give the poster a chance to respond, and terminate repeat infringers.

8. Price

OneSelf is free. There are no charges, subscriptions or in-app purchases.

If we introduce paid features or gift purchases in future, we will publish their price, renewal and cancellation terms here and in the app before anyone can buy, and ask you to accept them. Nothing you use for free today will be taken away and charged for without at least 30 days' notice by email and in the app.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use OneSelf for anyone other than yourself; break the law; interfere with OneSelf's operation or security; try to access other users' accounts or data; use automated tools to access OneSelf; reverse engineer the app; remove our notices; or resell OneSelf. We may suspend or end your access if you do.

10. Our content and your licence

OneSelf, including Cleo, the journey content, the designs, text, audio, graphics and software, belongs to HumanityBots or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on your own devices for your own caregiving. Everything else is reserved. Feedback you give us about OneSelf may be used freely and without obligation to you.

11. Beta, changes, availability and ending the service

OneSelf is in an early release. We improve it often and may add, change or remove features, and some features may not always work as described. Please tell us at hello@humanitybots.com when something does not work. We may suspend OneSelf for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. If we decide to end OneSelf, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email and in the app, and time to export your content.

You can stop using OneSelf and delete your account at any time, from the Me tab in the app or at humanitybots.com/oneself/delete-account. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. We can suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if your account has been inactive for more than 24 months after we warn you by email. When an account closes, your content is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers, liability and your responsibility

OneSelf is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promise that OneSelf will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that Cleo's or any summary's content will be accurate, and we disclaim implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent the law allows, HumanityBots and its officers, directors, employees and suppliers are not liable to you for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising out of OneSelf or these Terms, however caused. Our total liability to you for all claims together is limited to $100.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for our fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for our obligations under the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule. Some states do not allow some of these limits; in those states they apply only as far as the law allows.

You agree to compensate us for losses, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of someone else's rights or the law, except to the extent caused by our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

13. Resolving disputes: talk first, then individual arbitration

Talk to us first. If you have a dispute with us, email hello@humanitybots.com with your name, account email, a description of the problem and what you want. We will do the same if we have a dispute with you. We will each try in good faith to resolve it within 60 days before starting any formal proceeding.

Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it informally, you and HumanityBots agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to OneSelf or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitrator decides all issues except that a court decides whether this section is enforceable. The arbitrator can award you the same remedies a court could. Hearings will take place in your county or by video, as you choose. HumanityBots will pay all arbitration filing and administrative fees and the arbitrator's fees for claims of $10,000 or less, unless the arbitrator finds the claim frivolous; each side pays its own lawyers unless the law or the rules provide otherwise.

What is not covered. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Either of us may ask a court for an injunction to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. Nothing here prevents you from reporting a concern to a government agency, or from seeking public injunctive relief where the law guarantees it.

No class actions. You and HumanityBots agree to bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not combine claims of different people. If a court finds that this class waiver cannot be enforced for a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) will be heard in court, not in arbitration, and the rest of this section still applies. If many similar claims are filed against us at once, we will work with the arbitration provider on a fair, agreed process for handling them; no outcome in one case binds anyone who did not take part in it, and time limits are paused while the process is agreed.

Opt-out. You can reject this arbitration section by emailing hello@humanitybots.com from your account email within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with the words "I opt out of arbitration" and your name. If you do, the rest of these Terms still apply, and disputes will be resolved in the courts described in section 14.

Changes. If we change this section, the change does not apply to any dispute you told us about before the change.

14. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, you and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts in Travis County, Texas. Nothing in this section takes away protections you have under the consumer protection laws of the state where you live.

15. Notices and changes to these Terms

We may send notices to the email on your account and in the app, and you agree to receive them electronically. You may send us notices at hello@humanitybots.com.

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will tell you by email and in the app at least 30 days before they take effect and ask you to accept them when you next open the app. Earlier versions are available on request from hello@humanitybots.com. If you do not agree to a change, stop using OneSelf and delete your account before the change takes effect.

16. General

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy and the Cleo Safety and Crisis Protocol are the whole agreement between you and us about OneSelf. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor who takes over OneSelf. Sections 3, 4, 6, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 16 continue after your account ends. Google and Apple are not parties to these Terms and are not responsible for OneSelf, but they may enforce these Terms as third-party beneficiaries to the extent their developer agreements require.
