Built for real people
The person using the product is where we start.
Technology for human development
Different problems.
Different people.
One technology partner.
HEALTH
Care, journeys, the frontline
Scroll the object
The person using the product is where we start.
Technology that removes work, cost and friction.
Real users, real constraints, early.
Designed at the size the program needs to reach.
The gap
Technology has transformed how billions live, work and communicate. Development deserves the same ambition for the least privileged.
Yet technology and global development have largely evolved apart. The best technologists build for the privileged. The people who understand development best are rarely technologists.
We bridge that gap. We bring the best of technology to the people working on the world’s hardest problems.
The idea
AI, product, engineering, behavioral science and field experience, brought together in one team from the first idea to real world scale.
Technology
Frontier AI. Product thinking. Engineering discipline. Fast development. Beautiful, simple experiences.

DEVWhat we build
Technology solutions for program management, delivery and evaluation. Consumer-led products that raise usability, utility and value — and cut the cost and time it takes to get there.
01 · Reach people
AI assistants, WhatsApp services, digital tools, games and job aids designed around everyday life.

02 · Run programs
Give managers and frontline workers the information and tools they need while the work is happening.

03 · Know what changed
Research and measurement that live inside the work, producing evidence people can use while a program is still moving.

The difference
A health worker with twelve minutes between patients. A family sharing one phone. A field researcher with a weak signal. A ministry that eventually needs a system to work for millions of people.
If it needs a lecture, we redesign it.
The next action should be obvious.
Every feature should earn its place.
Technology should make scale more affordable.
Beyond the pilot
If you need a product, not a pilot theatre, talk to us.
We design with the next million users in mind. Prototype quickly. Test in the field. Learn what works. Build for scale.
How we work
01
Learn from the people, the problem and the context.
02
Turn the idea into something people can actually use.
03
Put it in real hands, early.
04
Watch what people do. Improve what gets in the way.
05
Match the technology and economics to the size the program needs to reach.
Weeks to build.
Months to scale.
Years of impact.
Principles
Most technologists do not understand the last mile. Most development professionals understand the last mile and are not asked to design the product. We sit both rooms at one table.

01
Most programs assume rural women cannot use technology. That is a fallacy. If a two-year-old can use it, so can they. The technology needs to be designed around them. Designs are dumb. People are not.
When the object tells the truth, the sign is superfluous.

02
Flexibility and usability pull in opposite directions. We choose the smallest set of actions that still does the work — because the person holding the phone has twelve minutes, a shared device, and a weak signal.
Usability on the left. Flexibility on the right. We sit as far left as the job allows.

03
A design that works in a district can fail in a nation. We do not treat a successful pilot as the product. We design with the next million users in mind, and we price and staff for that from the start.
What flies at one scale does not fly at another.
What this looks like
Consumer-led products, already in people’s hands — designed around usability, utility and the real constraints of daily life.

Great technology starts with great engineers and product thinkers. Great development work starts with people who understand communities, programs, institutions and the realities of the field. We bring them together.

Ex BBC Media Action · Ex Gates Foundation · Ex Meta, Head of Social Impact and Communities
Leads the unit. Two decades of media, philanthropy and platform work on social impact and communities.

Large technology companies · EY, large-scale government programmes
Owns architecture, delivery and the engineering standard. Years leading large public-sector systems.

20+ shipped technology products
Turns a field problem into something a person can actually finish using.

Two decades · 12+ countries · USAID, Gates Foundation and multi-country donor programmes
Keeps the work honest to ground reality — what people do, not what the logframe hoped they would do.

Partnership
Thirty years developing innovative solutions in the development sector, across more than thirty countries. Game-based learning, AI research tools, and field programs — the institutional memory this unit is built on.
What we believe
Start with the person. Make the next step obvious. Use AI where it matters. Design for scale early. Measure what matters. Keep improving.
Start something
Tell us who needs to use it, what needs to change and what is getting in the way. We’ll help you figure out what to build.
